New Year's Goals//Resolutions 2013

Hey Ya'll!
Welcome back to the work week!

So, what are my goals & resolutions for 2013?
  1. Start own Tae Kwon Do school.
  2. Create savings that I can fall back on in time of need ($800) & an emergency fund.
  3. Get things in order to test for 3rd dan in 2014.
  4. Quit eating fast food (except Taco Bell); and stop eating the food from my work – I consistently get food poisoning, so I’m not quite sure why I even bother to keep eating it.
  5.  Clean for 15 minutes a day.
  6.  Pay any 2012 + previous debts.
  7. Work on life list goals.
  8. Be more truthful.
  9.  Make my passions my job.
  10. Begin to outline and plan the basics of a wedding.
  11. Get my heart & wings tattoo touched up & brightened.
Would you like to explain those?
Yes, yes I would!

At the Tennessee seminar where I was given
the thumbs up to start my own studio.
Dyerburg, Tn 2011.
1.)
I'm ready to host my own class.  I've been an assistant teacher since 2006, and I was cleared to start my own school by my instructor in 2011.  Now all I've to do it find a place to host a class, write up a contract, and get the knitty-gritty figured out.

2.)
Debt & over-spending runs in my immediate family.
I've been lucky enough to see the pattern in myself & fix it,
& now I'd like to make sure I have means to fall back on if neccesary.

4th portion of the 2nd dan black belt test: board breaks!
I let my instructor choose this break for me - a slippery side kick through 2 inches of pine.
Ionia Armory, Mi 2009
3.)
Again, I'm ready: my last test was in 2009 (for my 2nd dan)!
I've had classmates who I use to outrank pass my in rank,
& typically it's the students with bad attitudes.

I've the history (I've been studying martial arts since I was 4; a total of 16 years to date) & a better attitude about lower ranking students - color belts AND black belts alike.

I want to tip the odds back in the favor of students & teachers with respect for each other, and the best way to do that is by a leading example.

4.)
Over the years (gosh, that makes me sound old, doesn't it?  Hee hee!) I've established a healthier diet and regimen . . . and my body no longer likes or tolerates fast food: I get sick, a feel awful, or in the case of the food from my place of employment I get food poisoning and starting throwing up.

No fun!  So it's time to give it up 'cause that's what's best for me.
Except Taco Bell, 'cause I love that place.

"I saw you throw your garbage on the floor.
Suck eggs and die."
5.)
I like my living space clean, but I dislike spending long periods of time cleaning.
So, 15 minutes a day ought to keep the dust mites and spideys away!

6.)
Did you know that your public library could place a "Delinquent" label on your account?

Well, neither did I until this year.

7.)
Check it out here.

8.)
Honesty is always the best policy.

9.)
We were put here on this earth to live; and I work to live, not live to work.
My big dream is to work for myself, write for a living, be a life coach, sell my designs//crafts, & do something with fashion & designing.

That's what this blog is, ya'll.
I value all support, ideas, comments, and constructive critiques - I want to be the best I can be at what I do, and every piece of input can help!

10.)
I'm engaged.
Engaged = marriage = wedding.

If I want a wedding I'll enjoy, it's up to me to plan it!

"When are you going to fill in the heart?  What's going in it?"
Never, and nothing.
11.)
I'm a sunscreen-aholic, but that doesn't entirely prevent color-fading.
I want it to shine bright and beautifully - I'm proud of my tattoo and it's placement, and I want it to sparkle!

It's my reminder:
"An empty heart is open to everything.
'Everything' will paint a beautifully unique pair of wings -
nothing can hold down an open heart,
and her wings are bound to be her, and only her,
for as long as she wishes or wants."

  1. Very good resolutions. Having some savings and an emergency account is very good, even if you don't use the money it gives you a more secure feeling and its easier to relax. It sounds horrible that you get poisoned by the foods at your work is that a common problem for others as well? Food poisoning can be very dangerous.

    1. As far as I know, it's not common, or if it is, it's not publicized to the same degree that I broadcast it.

I figure it's probably that my system really just can't handle greasy foods anymore because my close co-workers eat there more often than I, and they rarely get as sick as I often do (though there have been a few times when we've all eaten something in common and gotten sick for it).

  2. I am impressed with all your goals, I would like to be able to make my living writing and travelling around steampunk festivals one day, but I don't know if that will ever happen. I want to make my own clothes, too.

It is really cool that you want to be a tae kwondo coach!

I have an ultra sensitive stomach, so a huge range of foods including things like spices and oils they are cooked in can make me feel ill. People seem to think I am just a picky eater, sometimes, but it really does make me sick. I mostly subsist off plainish meat and vegetables which is good for you anyway. I can handle fast food if it's not too often and fairly plain, though.
